East Coast Trip Day 7: More New York!

Day 7 in New York started off with a tour of some of the popular places in New York. We went to Central Park and took some pics in front of this fountain that's in all the movies.

You can see this big apartment building from Central Park. This is where Jerry Seinfeld and some other famous people live.
He took us by the temple. It's right in the middle of the picture behind us. It's so crazy to see it right in the middle of town like that. We drove by it on the bus and I wouldn't have even noticed it if it weren't for Angel Moroni on the top. It's so not tall compared to the buildings around it and it's kinda just hooked to the building next to it. We walked over right in front of it and our tour guide was talking about something and all of a sudden says,"Everybody turn and wave to Regis!" So we turn around and there goes Regis, walking like 10 feet from us right in front of the temple. We waved to him and he even waved back. I didn't get a picture cuz I was spending too much time trying to figure out if it was really him. It was! And he wears LOTS of makeup!

We got to stop at Ground Zero on the tour. They're rebuilding part of it right now so there were walls set up around the construction site so we didn't get to see much, but what we saw was neat. There's some really cool monuments around the site. It brought back lots of memories of what I was doing that day when I heard the news and the feelings and thoughts that went through my mind. It's still hard to believe that even happened.

We also had some yummy New York Pizza! Yum! After that we went to Rockefeller Center, to NBC Studios, to a yummy cupcake store, and walked down 5th Avenue and checked out all the expensive stores!

While the rest of the group went to dinner and Phantom of the Opera, a few of us jumped on the subway to the Yankees/Red Sox game! There's nothing like the atmosphere of a baseball game!

Our seats were in the middle, in front of that guy in the blue shirt. But after about the 3rd inning we made our way down to the front row where there were open seats! Wow! And the seats were so comfy and soft!

We got to watch some of them warm-up, I couldn't believe how close we were

Andruw Jones--we used to be a fan of his when he played for the Braves. Not so much now that he's a Yankee:) We really were this close to him. The only bad thing about the game was that we sat this close, in perfect position to reach over the wall and catch a home run ball, and not one person hit it anywhere near us.

The game was a blast but I was really tired by the time it was over. We took the subway back to Rockefeller Plaza then took a crazy cab ride back to our hotel. Our hotel was a little ways out of town so it's a good thing we had a rookie driver cuz he said any other driver would have said no cuz it's not worth the gas money. He had no idea where he was going and was relying on his GPS which wasn't working very well. He asked us where we were from, we said Utah, and he asked which state that was in:) We told him it was a state and tried to give him some clues to remember it by...Utah Jazz, skiing, Olympics....nope. He had never heard of Utah. Scary! But luckily we made it back to the hotel safe and sound.
