East Coast Trip Day 6: New York!

We woke up on Day 6 and headed for New York! On our way we stopped for lunch at a town called Hoboken. It was a pretty cool place I would like to go back to. Had lots of fun shops and some pretty scenery. We were walking around the town and we kept passing ladies with their kids and strollers. All I can say is if I would have shown up there with my WalMart umbrella stroller I would have been so laughed at. These people had state of the art strollers! We had some yummy ice cream here too, yogurt mixed with shaved ice! Sounds weird but it was way yummy!

Another view of New York. The Twin Towers stood to the right of us. They were twice the size of that tallest building. Crazy. Our first stop in New York was Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. I'm a baseball fan (not a Yankee fan), and I loved seeing Yankee Stadium. They have a museum in the stadium, and this wall that has lots of old Yankees players signatures on it. I was wishing I could have traded my Dad places for like an hour. He's a huge baseball and Yankees fan, and we were sending him tons of pictures while we were there. He's a ginormous Mickey Mantle fan so we had to send him this picture. This was displayed in the little museum they have. I thought it was an inspiring quote. It's given by Lou Gehrig who played for the Yankees. If someone with Lou Gehrig's disease says he's the luckiest man on the earth than I have a lot of attitude changing to do! They have a place out behind right field called Monument Park with lots of statues of old players and retired numbers. Here's Babe Ruth, another one of my Dad's favorites!

They also had a cool monument dedicated to 9/11 Can't get enough of Mickey!

The view of the field from Center Field! Man do they spend a lot of time keeping these fields up. There are people there working on the fields all day long, every day.
We got to sit in the real live Yankees dugout! We were like little kids we were so excited!This was about the point where we started wishing we could see a game there. The Red Sox were playing there the next few days. We just kept thinking how awesome it would be to see a Red Sox/Yankees game!

This was a view of the field from behind home plate. The tour guide had to take it for us cuz common folk are not allowed anywhere near the grass. They had a lady there taking pictures and you got to stand on the dirt next to the grass. After she took our picture Kurtis turned around and felt the grass. The picture lady gasped and the tour guides eyes got huge! Apparently we missed the memo where it said do not touch the grass. Big no no! After the tour of Yankee Stadium (and after we had a spur of the moment ticket purchase for the Yankees Red Sox game the next night!) we got to see the Empire State Building. It's a long ways up there! What an incredible view though. So I think the Twin Towers stood to the left of that building in the middle of the picture that has the cranes on top. Either to the left or the right. And they said they were twice the size of that building! Oh how cute:)

That huge piece of grass is Central Park. We went on a tour of it the next day and it felt like we walked forever and really we saw like 1/8 of it. Huge!

We ended the night back in Time Square, lots of lights and people! Wouldn't want to be left alone at night there!
